A hotel in a quiet area near JP Kyoto Station with two identities!
Very close (walking distance) to JP Kyoto Station. Staff members were extremely helpful. Convenience stores and some restaurants are nearby.
It is somewhat inconvenient (and confusing for somebody who is from out of town) to connect to the downtown area, although it is not far away. The nearest-by station, Shichijo, Keihan Line, is located across the river Kamo, but it is not JR. However, the most confusing thing is that this hotel shows a sign at the entrance as Hotel M's Est Nanajo. I was looking for a hotel named Wander Kyoto Nanajo! For some unknown reason to me, both are the same. I get the fact that in Japanese Nanajo can be also read as Shichijo.

What was the highlight of Wander Kyoto Nanajo
Great hotel not far from the central station
The size of the room and the cleanness was top notch. A very comfortable place and a fantastic value for money. Staff very helpful and polite. I liked the lounge with drinks a lot! The location was okay, about 15 min walk to the station, but for everything else you either had to walk quite a bit or take subway or a bus, but it wasn't a big problem. Overall, a great place.
One thing I absolutely didn't like was the quality of the pillows. Out of 4 pillows that I had on my bed, 2 were impossible to use and the other two pretty uncomfortable. I would have liked at least one soft pillow. The rest of the bed was very comfy.

What was the highlight of Wander Kyoto Nanajo
Great location to explore Gion, Nishiki, and Riverside.
This place is very well located -- a 1 km walk to the train station (with bags, take a taxi.....the taxis are reasonable in Kyoto.) -- a 300 walk over the river to the main north-south metro stop -- a 20 minute walk up the canal to experience the Nishiki Market. The hotel has a homey vibe. People buy food and bring it to the lobby, which is easier on the budget. Microwave and water are available. The rooms were bigger than expected.
Not much to say about what I didn't like. All was well. All manner of thing was well. Summer heat in Kyoto can be brutal, so the hotel is your refuge. The main market is a foodie heaven. The night life along the canal was interesting but the prices are either amazingly affordable or outlandishly expensive.
